Next stop....

Cats are amazing animals and Sgt. Podge seems smarter than a lot of people I know. (Thanks for the link LY)

I never let Tilly outside - unless it's on a leash. Which she hates...but tolerates because it allows her to roll around on the grass. And as far as a set pick up time and location, I'm not sure Tilly could keep to anyone's schedule but her own.

Heiress With A Cause

There are so many ways to go here. But I think Paris Hilton will look back on her life and some day realize her work to save drunken elephants was her greatest achievement. (Thanks for the link RC)

No real outrage here - it's a dirty job, and I think she's just the person to do it. Besides, there are already too many people focusing on war, famine, poverty, the environment, domestic violence...hell, any other cause you can think of.

Seriously, I thought this was an Onion article.

Pay Attention

I'm putting a stake in the ground. Not that it matters. And I'm prepared for many "I told you so's" come next summer. But Hillary Clinton will not be the Democratic nominee for president. Just a hunch. She certainly has the money. But there's something disingenous about her. I'm not sure who will get the nod but it shouldn't be her. Edwards is working the outrage angle, at least according to this article. I'm going to suggest he use the following as a campaign slogan: "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. Though I'm sure some political consultant will talk him out of using it.

And I'm not a traitor for not supporting Hillary. I would no more support a candidate solely because she's female than I would tolerate someone opposing a candidate solely because she's female. Amounts to the same thing in my book.

I've said it before but it's worth repeating: Hillary's a smart woman -- and could leave a legislative legacy for the state of New York and the country that would rival some of the Senate's greatest members. Too bad she's going ruin that too.

Kevin's Song

I realized today it was 21 years ago this week I kissed Kevin for the first time. I might find it in me to tell the story here -- but then again, maybe not.

For now, this comes close to summing up how I feel -- and the growing acceptance that I'll always be outraged he's not here anymore.

It's called Terry's Song on Springsteen's new album but it makes me think of Kevin whenever I hear it.

"Well they built the Titanic to be one of a kind
but many ships have ruled the seas.
They built the Eiffel Tower to stand alone
but they could build another if they please.
The Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt are unique, I suppose
but when they built you, brother, they broke the mold.

Now the world is filled with many wonders under the passing sun
but sometimes something comes along,
you know it's for sure the only one
the Mona Lisa, the David, the Sistine Chapel, Jesus, Mary, and Joe
and when they built you, brother, they broke mold

When they built you, brother, they turned dust into gold.
When they built you, brother, they broke mold.

They say you can't take it with you
but I think that they're wrong.
'cause all I know is I woke up this morning
and something big was gone.
Gone into the dark ether where you're still young and hard and cold.
Just like when they built you, brother, they broke mold

Now your death is upon us and we'll return your ashes to the earth
and I know you'll take comfort in knowin' you've been roundly blessed and cursed.
But love is a power greater than death just like the songs and stories told
and when she built you, brother, she broke mold.

A bad attitude's a power stonger than death
alive and burnin' or stone cold
and when they built you, brother..."
